Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Mark Poole.  The Wind Ensemble has received a 1st division rating the past three years at the UIL Region 3 Contest.  The ensemble has recieved numerous 1st division ratings at the Region 3 Solo & Ensemble contest for medium ensemble as well as being named Best in Class at the Breckenridge Classic held in Breckenridge, Colorado in 2008.  The ensemble has taken part in the Dallas Wind Band festival finishing 2nd overall in 2009.

The Wind Ensemble meets daily from 8:15-9:30.

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic band is under the direction of Stuart Shulman.  The Symphonic band meets every day 2nd period and takes part as a medium ensemble in February at the UIL Region 3 Solo & ensemble contest.  In 2007-2008, the ensemble received it’s first ever 1st division on stage and in sight-reading.  The ensemble performs at the Meyerson Symphony Center annually as part of the Dallas Wind Band Festival.

 

Concert Band

The Concert band is under the direction of Stuart Shulman. The ensemble performs as a medium ensemble as well as the UIL Region 3 Solo & ensemble contest. In 2008-2009, in their first participation at UIL Concert and Sight-reading contest they received a 1st division in Sight-reading. The ensemble performs at the Meyerson Symphony Center annually as part of the Dallas Wind Band Festival. This ensemble meets daily 3rd period at FHS.
